Kaleva is in the Eastern part of Manistee County. Kaleva used to be a booming destination in the Railroad days, and still has a historic depot station and train engine. However, the town has calmed down since then. Now it's a charming village with a bank, post office, grocery store, artist shop, party store, gas station, and 3 restaurants. It's close to Brethren and Tippy Dam, and is a hub in the wintertime for snowmobiles because of it's location on the trails. The Manistee County Snowbirds Snowmobile Club even have their club house in Kaleva. Kaleva also has a community park with camp sites, a pavilion and a ball field. Kaleva's main summertime attraction is Kaleva Days in July. Kaleva kids go to Kaleva Norman Dickson Schools (KND) in nearby Brethren.
